2005 Mercury Mariner unknown problems
was given this vehicle but it doesnt start or turn over. I turn the crank and the engine is not Frozen. I'm not a professional mechanic but I can do the work if I can get help diagnosing this one. How do I start diagnosing this vehicle and get it started? it doesn't have a battery. Without telling me the obvious, how do I proceed in diagnosing this to get it started once I put a battery in?

Once the battery is in take a short piece of wire and jump the solenoid wire to power. If it doesn’t turn over then it probably the starter. If it does turn over then you have to start seeing why you are not energizing the solenoid.
