I just got a new Miller Syncrowave 250 DX tig welder at work. They asked me for my recommendation and this is what I selected. Now I am an electronics tech, not a welder. But, I have been welding at home for 30 years.
I have a simple high frequency tig setup at home. The Miller is a square wave unit. I need to act like I know what I am doing. But, nobody at work has tig welded before so I should be ok.
If you have one of these, any setup recommendations for welding 1/16 to 1/8 aluminum would be appreciated.
This baby is nice, 400 pounds and 5 to 310 amps output.
Practice on a lot of scrap. It will take a bit to get it down, just like anything else - I'm guessing that you need low amps, but how low is a good question.
I think we can safely assume that most of the welding experts here hang out in the exhaust and bodywork forums. That might be the best place to check out...
