Looking for some gear and the quicker the better.
Need something either like MOLL-E gear or a bunch of holsters, Lol. What I'm doing now works but either I'm afraid of losing something with my line of work or when/if we get new shirts, I'll have to figure something out. Leaning towards molle gear really. Just need to hold a few items. Nothing full on tac like most people use them for. Just tired of either risk losing things or constantly emptying pockets and shirt when I get home and re-loading when I go into work. Ideal would be a molle vest stripped down and I add the pouches I actually need, Not pay for ones I don't need or buy a vest with them already on there and permanent mount.
Maybe a leg rig would work too. All I need is 4-5 holsters. One for a APX 7000, a utility knife/belt cutter, a stinger led, standard size hand gun, a small multi-tool, and a pouch for other items such as pen, notebook, smokes, wallet, etc...
Would prefer to keep the pen out in the open to avoid needing to open the pouch all the time. And no, I don't do security or rent-a-cop type work. Whatever I get would have to be able to stand up to quite a bit of abuse though. Anything from in and out of a truck to laying on the ground and leave me with free movement. Already have a 2" riggers belt. Getting tired of constantly loading and emptying pockets every night.
Thanks.
Well we're making the switch to guardian point blank molle vest. The vest itself is around $200. I got radio pouch, mace, double cuff pouch and a stinger holder. Also a extra mag pouch with a small utility pouch. All cost bw $10-$20. Only thing that's staying on my rig belt is my glock, mag pouch and possibly taser.
Not sure your line of work but if you don't have to wear a ballistics vest and you can get away with maybe just plates, there's more options available. You can always stick a pin through one of the available molle straps on the vest.
Good luck
I do "recovery" work for a local municipality and their PD. I get called into some really questionable situations and at times, Left alone getting prisinor vehicles because of low manpower.
Kind of torn between just using my riggers belt with holsters and figure out what to do with the hand mic and earpiece, Or get a vest and outfit it instead. I do want ballistic protection as I usually pick up in the "bad" parts of town. We're "recommended" to carry but they will not provide us with level 3 vests or any kind for that matter. Even the old ones they're returning to point blank... I asked. I'll check out the guardian vests though, Thanks.
And I do not recommend the thigh rigs. They're ok to hold stuff you don't have to get to quickly like flashlights or a trauma kit. I had the Blackhawk thigh rig when I first got out the academy. My first training officer told me on day one that I needed to get rid of it. Had my taser on it. Found out it's a lot harder to pull from it in a fight or a foot chase. With the molle vest I can keep everything in front as opposed to reaching behind my back for another set of cuffs (for the larger people) or behind my gun for mace. But I would definitely look into some protection. Paraclete, which is owned by point blank armour, makes good hard plates that have the same standards as soft full armor. The plates don't cover as much though, mostly just vital organs. But yes, get yourself some armor. No way in hell that I'm putting on my uniform without it. Stay safe
