emails asking for help with money transfer
almost everyday now i get an email from someone asking for help transfering millions to the us. and for my help i will recieve a percentage. they are always from a different person but most are from nigeria or somewhere else in africa. i always delete them but have been unable to find out how all these people keep getting my email address. do any of you get these regularly? where would you report these?

There are people know as E-Mail Harvesters who travel throughtout the internet looking for exposed e-mail addresses.
FTE Has a system to allow users to mail each other but not let the harvesters get anything.
If you are being send spam like > JUST DELETE IT
If you ever reply with clicking the:" If you don't want this message being sent to me."
All you did is confirm that your e-mail official and they in turn will contact more people to spam you.
When you are asked for an e-mail address, make a yahoo e-mail account & give your Yahoo e-mail to them.
Rememebr Just delete them.
I'm now running a Mail Washer that people told me works quite well.

If you wish to automatically clear some of the spam e-mails using “Outlook Express”.
1. Open outlook
2. Click on “Tools”
3. Click on “message rules - mail”
4. Click the “Mail” tab if it is not in front
5. Click “New” button
6. In the next window, section 1 check the conditions that apply
7. Section 2, check the action you wish
8. Section 3, click on the hi-lighted “contains specific words”
9. A window will pop up and in the top field type the word that applies to the rule (sex, spam, transfer) then click “ADD”. You may then enter other words then click add. When finished click “OK” then “OK on the next window or you may add another rule. Then OK on the final window.
This will take care of some of your problems with spam. You can add new word to an existing rule open the rule. You don’t need to create a new rule for 1 word.
After your e-mails have downloaded you may empty the deleted folder and they will be gone!

I use a program called Mail Washer that checks for possible spam and viruses while the e-mail is still on the ISP's server. If any suspicous e-mails are intercepted it gives you the option of opening it, deleting it or bouncing it (makes the sender think he's got a bad address).

I use Mail Washer too and seem to get a lot less spam now than I used to
