I got a bed tent for my birthday, but I haven't set it up yet.
Planned to do that today (on my birthday) to see how it is. I like the idea of being able to put it up and take it down and have my usable bed quickly without having to worry about a place to store a shell.

I remember seeing those in a catalog a while back. They seem like a neat idea. I'm not sure that it's what I'm really looking for though. Let us know if you like yours or not.
There is a trailer plug behind the driver's side taillight, I bought a plug to fit and wired it for some led lights. All I have to do is unplug and remove the canopy.

That's great. I had no idea that was there. I'll check to see if it's present on my truck.
Wiring in trailer lights is a pretty simple task. Lots of direction and diagrams at etrailer.com
Doing this is a good way to get power in the back, and it will be nice to have if you ever end up towing. I'd run the extra wire for trailer brakes while I was at it if I were you, just in case.
Here is what I did and we put our sleep number bed on the platform. We have since gone with a taller canopy for more head room.
When I was a kid my dad had a setup like this in he back of his old F100, we would take it on fishing trips up north a couple times a year. The setup worked great, it was comfortable and dry! When the weather got a little cold he brought a kerosene heater and left a window open, kept us warm all night. I can't say I would ever put one of those heaters in a truck again and it you did that with your kid you would probably go to jail, but it did work really well...
"Nowadays...." there are catalytic propane heaters that burn clean enough to run in enclosed spaces. You still need a window open, since the combustion consumes oxygen. But much safer.

A friend of mine almost died in an enclosed trailer with a catalytic propane heater that was malfunctioning. His aunt and uncle wondered why he was late for breakfast and found him unconscious. They were camping at an event that had EMTs on staff so they were able to get help right away, they got him to a hospital and he's fine now. But he's sworn that he'll never use any heater (other than electric) without also having a CO detector.
