F350 ordered...Arrival Delayed
I believe it is much more than the border...although the border may contribute to the cost savings to ford by shipping them to Washington state and putting them on car carriers for the final journey. I know that American rail companies don't like shipping to Canada because it takes a long time to get their rail cars back. I would assume they cut Ford a deal to do it this way.
But my dealer says he is waiting for many vehicles and they are sitting in Kent Wa. And their appears to be no rhyme or reason to which vehicles are selected by the carriers to deliver. And the carrier company appears to be the lowest, cheapest company that Ford could find. While I think a month to ship by rail, my truck to the terminus in Kent Wa, is long, you would think that Ford could find a reliable method to deliver vehicles to the Vancouver area. Not a projected month and a half to go 2 hours tops. My dealer says he has complained thru his channels but to no avail.
I put this on the Forums because I wanted to warn other Super Duty owners to be, how they are delivered and that when you say something to Ford, they have no solution.
And if you just say nothing, then you accept it and it will never change in the future. I look at it that Ford set up this system and if this is normal, then they could lose business.
I did try to order correctly...by going to the Fleet Manager that my employer uses, and he was an excellent resource in knowing the Super Duty, he gave me a reasonable price, and has provided excellent service. I am just frustrated in how Ford delivers its retail orders and treats issues when you phone them. If they had a good delivery system, then it would not matter retail or stock. I believe they have a systemic problem of delivery in our area.

2017 SuperDuty F350 ccsw, Lariat, long bed, ruby red, 6.2L, 3.73, black interior.
Options...navigation, dual batteries, EE HD alternator, bucket seats/console, 11,500 GVW, remote start, mud guard, rear wheel well liner, ultimate trailer tow cam package, trailer camera package (to mount camera on trailer with wire), 5th wheel package, floor mats, camper package and power running boards.
I did not want the moonroof so Lariat Ultimate was out and another $6000 for Platinum getting LED lights, 20 inch wheels, and a few assorted things in the upgraded power equipment group was not worth it for me. I plan to haul my about to purchase 5th wheel to Arizona in the fall every year. The 12,000 ton towing capacity of the gas engine is just fine and will not be on the road a lot. And did not want to spend another 10000 for diesel engine. I plan to keep the truck a long time and take care of it.
