Ok now I have to ask... why would a dog not trained to alert on weed also not alert on any other kind of narcotic?
You could never testify as to what exact odor the door alerted on. If the dog is trained for meth, heroin, cocaine, and weed... You don't know which of those he is alerting on...,you just know he is alerting on an illegal substance. If you have legal Marijuana in your car and cocaine the dog is just going to alert. Since Marijuana is legal in some areas, you couldn't search the car and find the cocaine because it would be a bad search....
Make sense? Same reason why a dog won't be trained to alert on firearms and narcotics together... Huge search issues.
