Ford 223 Distributor

My 223 Distributor has an oil shaft (or tube) that extends past the gear. In the event I need to replace my distributor, I noticed looking at several 223 distributor photos that do not have this shaft. Was this for cars only or is it needed for trucks? Thanks.

Look on the base of the distributor for an ID number, post what it is.
