Grille guard or bumper?

I'm liking the ranch hands. ESPch the color match ones that are painted caribou. However I don't know if I need a hue heavy duty bumper?

I mainly will be buying it to protect my truck from deer or whatever else will be crossing the back roads I drive at night.

I saw ranchand offers grille guards too. Would these hold up to a deer or no?

i like the OEM bumper but if the grille guard wouldn't protect the truck then... I would get the full thing. Here is a pic below of a truck with a color matched ranch hand, this is pretty much what my truck would look like.

If you think there is a strong possibility that you will hit a deer get the full bumper/guard. The guard will work but I think the margin for error on where you can take the impact is far less than the full bumper.

Normally I think the full bumpers look a little weird on a stock truck but the one in the picture looks pretty good.

Had a grill guards and still bent my bumper on my 2011 lariat by a deer. Replacement with a Frontier bumper and knocked at least 3 deer out of the way with no damage. Wasn't much of a match for the Fed ex Truck that side swipped me though.
