I have a F 250 6.0L diesel with a 5 speed transmission the mitsubishi I have the exterior filter that I change regularly.
Is there also a internal filter? When should it be changed if it has one.
The maintenance schedule does not mention it to change.
The truck has 93,000 miles on it?
What do you mean by, "5 speed transmission the mitsubishi?"
The Ford 5 speed with an external filter does not need the internal filter changed.
It shows two filters FT 144 & FT 145 internal and external. Watched a video on youtube the shows the changing of both but it doesn't say at what milage the internal should be changed.

The internal filter should be changed when the transmission is rebuilt. It doesn't need to be replaced before that. That changes if you install the 2008+ pan and filter. That one does need to be changed at regular intervals.

It's the 5R110. That was the only automatic available.
It is a slightly deeper pan, which allows you to upgrade to the BETTER internal filter which filters 100% of the trans fluid. This was done in 2008, since Ford deemed it worth a re-design it says a LOT about it's effectiveness vs. the "toilet-paper like" external filter which ONLY filters 10% of the fluid - once the trans is up to temp.

Excellent information, couldn't have put it better myself.

Thanks I appreciate the info.
Sounds like a very good reason to do that.
Do you know how much more fluid it will take and can I eliminate (keep the housing but no filter in it) the external filter?
