In '04 the Nissan Titan came out with a stamped steel differential cover. By '07 Nissan had switched over to a finned aluminum cover. I don't think the capacity changed but they did change the viscosity from 80w-90 to 75w-140 (same as the Superduty). Nissan ended up replacing a lot of '04-'06 axles.

I don't doubt that more capacity is beneficial. I wouldn't mind having a drain plug on my differential cover.

With respect to the oil pan pictures that started this thread, I would prefer a finned cover and having to insert/tighten the middle bolt along the bottom row through the drain plug doesn't look like any fun to me.

Here's what my oil temp is after for 3 straight hours empty. So once I install the new pan I'll do the same three straight hour trip again and compare the two. I'll post results then.

I'm far more interested in the temperatures while towing. An unloaded temperature may not be that much of a gauge.

I am as well but as of right now I don't plan on towing any heavy loads in the near future. Or at least to match that 20k pound load where I saw oil temps in the 240's.

How do you get the temps to show above the guages?

You can add them through Forscan.

Do you need a laptop, or will it work with the iPhone app?
