Oil changes - drain pan

Does anyone know where I can find a large enough drain pan for these trucks? I'd like to find something that also has a valve or something so it would be easier to get the oil back into jugs.

I've debating making one myself with a concrete mixing tub and a valve, but if there's something available I'll save myself the trouble.

I have a large 15 qt oil pan I bought at WalMart made by Blitz, it's black plastic, low profile, and has a pour spout. I'll see if I can find you a pic.

I use a shorty 4 gallon bucket that used to have tile adhesive in it. Works like a champ to get it under my truck.

I really do use a 5 gallon bucket...a Homer bucket with a locking lid.

Drain oil, do my thing, snap the lid on, throw it in the back of the truck, take it to the auto parts store...have the kid in the store try and act fancy and ask me if he can help me carry it inside to dump..watch his face in anguish when he realizes how heavy the bucket is...

good times.

Forgot a 5 gal bucket probably wouldn't fit beneath a stock truck.

I use the low profile Blitz as well, but I like Dan's (Kwik) idea. He once posted a pic of a mop bucket on casters.

I've never disposed of oil myself... the last time I did an oil change myself was years ago when I lived with my folks and drove a much smaller vehicle. I'd just set the jug of dirty oil in the corner of the garage and waiting for it to disappear. (Thanks, dad! )

When you go to AutoZone to dispose of oil do they drain it from your container? If so, I think I'll go with the suggestions and just get one of those pans from Wal-Mart and a 5 gallon bucket.

Thanks!

Eric, I know the rules differ from state to state...

Some stores have to take the oil back and drain it out for you, some let you go back and do it yourself.

They should give you your container back.

Lucky! Every time I went over to my dads to change my oil, I'd finish up and go inside to wash my hands and I'd come back out and find 4 more 5 gallon buckets of oil had magically appeared in the back of my truck. Seems he was setting the oil in the corner of the garage and waiting for ME to come over and be his patsy.

I'm able to take my oil in to work and get rid of it there. My neighbors will sometimes throw their oil in my truck when they see me loading up. Now I put my oil in late at night...
