I don't think I would want a drain from the bottom pan. Especially not since it hangs down even lower than OEM. I say this mainly because I put a Fumoto drain valve in all my cars.
The only aftermarket pans I'm familiar with are from PML and they are cast aluminum. So no welded joints.
It would be interesting to see if creating a pan with a slight decline towards the drain plug would work

towing 20k pounds not to long ago in the TX heat I had oil temps up to 240-245. So lowering it to 230-235 in the same condition I think it's worth it. More of a peace of mind deal.

I like the idea of more oil, especially since 1/3 plus of my miles is towing 17K+
But, having done larger oil pans & difff covers and such over the years on trucks (and oil pan on the bike) I don't believe the temp drop. Once oil gets to 240 all the oil is going to get to 240, just slightly longer.
As to finned diff covers, I did not do a pre cover test for obvious reasons, but when I put a finned cover on my D-max, I added the temp sensor. Adding 1 gallon of capacity was my goal.
On some of the longer hills we have on the east coast I could watch the diff temp go from an average of 130-140 to upwards of 180+.
But on the down hill sides the temps dropped right away back down to normal temps.
Maybe the fins helped, maybe the increeased capacity (about 2 quarts to 6 quarts) or maybe it was the synthetic fluid.
That oil pan the OP showed looks real nice, except for the bottom drain. I have enough trouble not splashing oil on my driveway
