If Ford didn't do a thing it wouldn't matter, the Super Duty is a much better truck overall than the Ram. But I honestly don't think Ford will take this sitting down.
its only 5ftlb now , barely even worth mentioning , if you ask me. but in 2yrs theyre likely to have new frame, axles, possibly transmission etc etc. this seems to suggest they might be getting ready to turn up the heat a few notches

I tried out a 2017 Ram 3500. Can you say "turbo lag" when taking off. And that puppy rode rough. The flip up outside mirrors just did not seem have the visibility as the extended SD mirrors. And the engine brake button was in a cluster of buttons, which made it hard to find. IMHO, I made a good choice when going with a Ford truck again......number 4 new truck since 1979.
Ram used to offer 100,000 mile warranties on all their trucks. But for 2016, they conformed to Ford and GM's warranty length. Only diesel power trains get 100,000 mile warranties now. Including EcoDiesel.

The Ram is torque limited to 3rd gear. The Ford is limited to 2nd on DRW, 4th on SRW. That's too much! Chevy is only limited in 1st. The Ram is sluggish off the line mainly because of the emissions compliance. The 2013 upgrade really killed it. The 2012 model did fine getting off the line.
