I need to polish out 20 years of oxidation and restore the color to my 1998 Ranger. I have a set of foam pads and a Griot's Garage random orbital, variable speed, 6" buffer and I am looking for recommendations as to what compound I can use along with swirl remover to use to improve the gloss and shine of the paint on my truck. It exhibits the greyish stains that form under the corners of the windows and door handles. My truck is the Metallic dark Green and it is quite noticeable. I did a test hand buff with Nufinish and most of it went away so I know it can be buffed and polished out. Nothing to expensive or over the top, just good quality stuff and a place to get it from.
I personally like the meguiars professional products, comes in a tan or grey bottle (im colorblind) with a small label on them, most auto stores carry them.
IMHO, I would visit a local auto body paint supplier, let them look at the paint and make recommendation, then you will get exactly what you need and be using pro grade products.
