Decided that maybe the line going to vaccum advance was loose inside the fitting so I got the stuff to use rubber line instead of the rigid...After putting that on and movind the dist to close to where it was before I started It fired up perfectly...UNBELIEVABLE...IT WILL RUN GOOD (revving up also)FOR ABOUT 4 OR 5 MINS THEN ACT CRAZY AGAIN. I let it cool off and it started good again...could it be a bad distributor??? I'll change the points for kicks again but after I check for any weak wires I was going to try a new dist...What do ya think??????
I don't know if the compression is low I can't see how it can run good. If you have a lot of oil or dirt around the coil it can arc and make it run bad. If you have a different distributor I would try that. Sometime they go bad .
I cant believe it. Went and got a new condenser (like $2) and put it on and startrd and set timing and it runs perfectly...Smokes some when I start it but thats another issue. For some reason when I worked on it the last two times I went to work totally relaxed as if I knew I was about to get it right...After new vaccum lines and it started and idled I could breathe and didn't have to use any cuss words...Anyway thanks to everyone who read up on this and pitched in. I really appreciate you all.
THANKS, JERRY
Check for play in the distributer. I always had a bad hesitation and stumbling. Then one day I swapped the points for an electronic item and the hesitation quit. I then checked the old distributer and that was when I noticed that it only had a little play but it was enough to cause havoc that couldn't be found until after I gave up.
