Stalling at stops
I have a new problem with the truck. Today I started it up to goto Lowes. Started fine, idles fine. Reved it up a bit and when it came back to idle it died. Started it back up gave it some reves, dies. Discided to go to Lowes anyway but every time I pushed the clutch in at a stop sign to stop it would die. Drives down the road fine, idles fine, starts fine. Has me a mit confused. Any ideas? Fuel filter is only a couple of months old.

Remove the fuel filter, drainit and refill it with diesel clean, howes, or a diesel conditioner of your choice. Reinstall filter, and put a tripple charge of conditioner in the fuel tank, then go for a drive. There is a pice in the IP that gets sticky. the fuel conditioner helps free it up. My 85 would do this and it cured it within 5 minutes of doing this.

Sticking governor linkage inside the IP is the usual cause.
When it shuts the fuel down to decelerate, the slight sticking does not let the governor open fast enough to resume idle RPM before the engine stalls.

Thanks guys! I took both of your advice. I bought dieselclean and put it in the filter and ran it for a while then let it set with dieselclean in the IP. I also dumped 1 1/2 qts of atf in a full tank of fuel. Its back to running normal again. Now I know where the govenor linkage is too. Learn somehting new everyday.
