Heyo, I have a 99 f250 superduty 2wd longbed with the triton 5.4l. The truck was throwing the common codes associated with the intake and sure enough I foind leaks. My question is I can buy a new aluminum lower intake for about $150 or I can buy a used plastic one for about $65. My lower intake is shot and its the plastic one. Is it worth it to just upgrade to the aluminum? I guess I should mention the truck has about 217k on the clock and quite rusty. I am on a limited budget so was hoping that the cheaper one would suffice but I dont want it to wear out prematurely. Also any tips for removing the egr tube? Thanks!
Can I ask how you narrowed it down the the intake?
My truck just started throwing the same codes & I going to replace a couple seals on my older K&N intake first before I dig further.
Also, where did you find an aluminum one for 150$? I found this one for 150 thats plastic. Its actually slightly modified from stock for a little better airflow to from what I understand.

I narrowed it down by googleing the codes and watching a few youtube videos. They said to spray something like water around the gasket and if it bogs down there is your problem. I used some brake cleaner instead and heard it rev up lol. I just ended up replacong the gaskets over the weekend.
The Aluminum manifold I found was on rockauto.com its like $144 or something plus shipping. Hope this helps!
