Diesel starters
Can any one tell me the difference between the 1984 and 1985 Ford diesel starters. I've been trying to find either a Mitsubishi or a Nippondenso gear reduction starter for my 84 Ford with a 6.9 engine built in Nov. of 83. All the ones I've found are said to be for 1985 and up. Thank you. Dan.

I went to rockauto and plugged in a 84 and then a 85. They show the same starters. Some are gear reduction, some are not. Some are rebuilt, some are new. But there are a few that show up for each truck and have the same part number.

Personally I would stick to the older DD Delco they are a much better starter and are the same units as used on heavy trucks, earth moving equipment gen sets etc.
