My 66 has already been converted to power steering with the sawginaw box.
The PO did a **** poor job of cutting and welding the original steering tube/column.
I just came across a complete power steering conversion from a 74. Same sawginaw and with matching column and steering rod.
All this was in a "lot" of parts I recently bought. So I figured might as well "do it right" and use the 74 column and rod. Plus all the bushings and bearings in the 74 column are in great shape, all the ones in my converted 66 column are shot.
My question/concern is: I dont see how the 74 column will fit and bolt up to the dash in the 66. The mounting flanges on the column are different heights.
So do I need to remove the column mounting flange from the 66 and put it on the 74 column?
