Transmission Issue and Engine Surging
Some issues with my 86' F-350 dually (4-speed with 140k miles).
Transmission
With the clutch fully engaged, there is a squeaking coming from the transmission. This happens in neutral or in any gear. Video of the squeak -
Second issue is that the truck has a horrible drag in reverse, and a shudder when trying to go over 30mph. For reverse, it feels like the brakes are on and I'm heading metal scraping. However, it only does this when in the reverse gear. If I let the truck roll backwards, she's fine. Same deal for going over 30mph...shaking, and I noticed smoke out of the rear of the truck. Diff fluid was good, haven't checked transmission fluid yet, and no play in the driveshaft, but the support mount bearing could probably be changed in the near future. I do have grease seeping out of the passenger side axle/drum connection.
Engine
The truck surges a bit with an accompanying clunk, probably 2-3 second between each surge/clunk. It's enough to rock the truck a little. Tried to capture it on video, but it's hard to tell with the general noise, but you can hear the clunk at the 0:16, 0:18, 0:20 mark.
For both issues, I think the P/O said something about replacing the flywheel. I have a feeling that these issues a related to the transmission. Thoughts?
