I just added some LED lighting to the cargo area. I spliced it into the rear dome light. See pic. I'm impressed so far but I'll do a real decision tonight when it's fully dark out.
Its a deal like 100' or so of 12v led's every 6-8 inches. Each light has three LED's and self adhesive backing. If anyone is interested I'll get the brand name and model info.
I also replaced the rear stock dome light with a $8 LED unit from Oreilly. And both bulbs in the 3rd brake light. (I have to get my wife out there to push the pedal while I look at it.)
The pic below is from about 5pm on an overcast day. "Dark" by standards of day time, with some ambient light coming from behind me and the camera. I got in the van and shut the doors so I could get a feel for how dark it gets after the dome lights time out. Then I cracked the sliding door just enough to trigger the light back on.
I installed one of these in the cargo area of my Isuzu trooper and it's almost as bright as daylight at night. It has a 3 position switch Off/one on/both on.
