Odd Dome Light Issue

The dome light on my buddy's 96 is acting up. It wont come on when the door is open or if the headlight **** is turned. The cargo lights work. When the map light is turned on both it and the dome light come on very dim. What would cause this?

Sounds like a poor conection in the dome light itself between the bulb holder connection and the wires. when you turn the map light on the dome light and map light are now in series and it grounds out that way. Does it do it for either map light or just one? I bet if you pulled the map bulb and turned it on, the dome light still won't light.

Thanks Ty...its my truck when you open the door No inside light comes on the (outer one comes on) also at anytime the side map lights don't work. But if the doors are closed and you turn the light switch *** the 2 map lights will work but the center one will not light up.

Question 2 ware is the ground located ?

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure there is power to the light all the time and when you open the door or twist the **** it completes the ground circuit, there is no ground connection in the holder
