I have a 2002 Ford F350 7.3L, and I'm really really really REALLY low on PSF and I wanted to know if I can use Valvoline ATF for the fluid? Or do I use something else? I need to know asap, I'm going to be hauling cattle very soon.
Perhaps a more important question is: Why are you low on Power Steering Fluid? The Brake System depends on PSF to property operate. Or, operate at all if you have none. hauling Cattle I presume is tasking at best. Something to definitely correct prior to using the vehicle.

Hence why I said, "very soon." My 7.3 is not my daily driver. I just went over every fluid and realized I was low on PSF. I didn't have my owners manual in my glove box and I read online that people use ATF for PSF. I was just skeptical.

That's what Ford specs for the hydroboost system, ATF. Not PSF. The hydroboost system provides pressure for both the brake booster and the power steering.

So what's the problem? I used Valvoline MERCON® V ATF. That's what other forums recommended, and it says on the label it's most recommended by Ford owners.
