1997 Explorer Transmissions Slipping
Well it all started with the little O/D off light flashing then it started slipping when it tried to shift into 3rd gear, took it in and had the shop do a complete service to the little tranny, since I'm the second hand owner of her I have no idea when or how long the tranny or oil was serviced. Anyway after the service was done it was running like a top again.
Then POW!!!! the light is back on and the same problem again
So what to do?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1997 Explorer Transmissions Slipping
I'll just assume it is a V6 with a 5R55E transmission. These are known to have valve body gasket problems that will give the flashing OD light. This problem is causes because the bolts get loose. Had a bunch loose on my 97. How do you know it is third? The shifts are pretty soft. Second is made up from low and overdrive. Third is the intermediate band. What did they say they did the last time?

Yepp it is a V6 and all they did was flush the converter and R&R the fluid and filter and suppose to inspect everything else.
it only seems to slip after it is warmed up if it is cold its find, but still flashes the OD light the reason I mentioned third gear is it will drive in 1st and 2nd gears but does all the slipping from 2nd up. I'm not much on the new computer aged vehicles if it don't sit on a desk I'm worthless Thanks Opera House Works
