Hello; I just registered with this forum. I have been reading here off and on for a couple of months now. My son and I bought a 2001 F250 2 wheel drive with the 7.3L Diesel and automatic transmission in April this year. It came with an Edge Evolution tuner and only had about 86000 miles on it. Haven't touched the settings on the tuner as of yet. About a month ago it would on occasion wait to shift from 1st gear into second until it reached a road speed of around 28mph. Today it seems to work fine until it reaches a speed of about 28mph and then it feels like someone slammed the brakes, I live on a gravel road and I'm thinking if the brakes came on that hard the wheels should be locking up and sliding on the road, which they are not. I'm wondering if I have a transmission issue or what the problem may be. About a month ago we had the transmission drained and new oil and filter installed at a local reputable transmission shop, there were a few metal shavings on the magnet, nothing unusual according to the technician. Just wondering if anyone on this forum has had similar problems or might have an idea as to what is happening with my truck.
First of all...welcome! Second...have you contacted the previous owner to find out what tune was installed with the Edge tuner? The other option is to call the folks at Edge Products and talk to the guys in Support. They have always been very helpful if I had any issues with my Edge tuner.
Thanks for your response. I believe he had it set to the towing tune, we returned it to stock setting with the problem still there. I believe it is time to have the pros look at it.
Welcome aboard. from another "Ontarian" woah that sounds wierd. LOL
on a gravel road also
that sounds like an excellent truck you bought. I drive a 2003 E350 van with a 7.3 powerstroke and it just rolled 530,000 km last fill up. I have a older superchip 2 position tuner on tow safe and its been on since 360,000km .
I tow 9000lbs regularly and over 12,000 ocassionally no issues with my 4r100 either. mostly light load w/o trailer.
how is your fuel economy going?
change oil consistently and only use quality oil!
post a pic of your wheels when you figure out the navigation around here.
If I understand correctly, a snap ring for the overdrive is what went south on my transmission. My tranny pro is installing a shift kit as well as a billet torque converter, should be ready tomorrow or Friday.
