Knock Sensor
Here's the first part of your knock sensor test. From here, it branches out three ways. Let me know what you get and I'll post the follow-up:
DG1 SERVICE CODE 25/225: GENERATE KNOCK MANUALLY
Service Code 25/225 indicates that the Knock Sensor (KS) signal to the processor was not sensed during the Dynamic Response Test after the ID code in Key On Engine Running Self-Test.
Possible causes are:
-- Damaged knock sensor.
-- Open or shorted harness.
-- Damaged processor.
NOTE:
Since knock conditions are sensitive to fuel, altitude and weather in addition to ignition timing, perform Step DG1 before servicing any components.
l Locate knock sensor and prepare to rap/tap the engine block close to the sensor with a 4 oz. hammer.
l Run Engine Running Self-Test (engine must be at operating temperature).
l Tap the engine block close to the knock sensor immediately after the Dynamic Response code is given.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to "goose" the throttle. Ignore all other codes except Code 25/225.
l Is Service Code 25 or 225 present?
Yes
GO to «DG2».
No
Knock sensor system OK. RERUN Engine Running Self-Test and SERVICE any other codes.
DG2 CHECK KS CIRCUIT VOLTAGE
l Key off.
l Disconnect knock sensor.
l Key on, engine off.
l Measure voltage between KS circuit and SIG RTN circuit at the Knock Sensor vehicle harness connector.
Voltage is between 1 and 4 volts
GO to «DG6».
Voltage is less than 1 volt
GO to «DG3».
Voltage is greater than 4 volts
GO to «DG5».
