I was wondering if it was possiable to put 302 heads on a 351 block.....because I've got a pair of rebuild 302 heads and am just missing the block. Would it be beter to simply stick with the 302 or upgrade to the 351....I'm looking for low end torque for towing and such. If anybody has suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated.
there are some castings better than others but if its a stock motor you wont notice much difference, as long as the heads are both windsor style heads it wont make much differnce 302/351. DW
Actually if your motor (351) is somewhere in the mid 80+/- up it already has a 302 design head, part of the reason they are not favored by anyone. Now if you are talking 302 aluminum aftermarket or gt-40/and or p then go for it. The aftermarket heads usually throw the designation for their head into the 302/351 classification. If the heads have been opened up ported then it depends on how they flow, since you already have them why not they are free but if they are stock its not worth opening up the bolt holes to make them work. This is my opinion, good luck building the engine
after 76 69cc head was a 69cc head and the bolt holes were the only diff. i wouldnt run a longer duration cam with them though, there isn't enough compression there, would work good for a low duration for lots of torque
