Won't shut off

Won't shut off
I have a '69 F250, some previous owner put a 460 and c6 in it. I hadn't driven it in a couple of weeks so I started it this afternoon to charge the battery. When I turned the key off the engine kept running but everything else shut off (radio, gauges, etc). I had to pull the coil wire to shut it off.
Got out the multimeter, I have 10.5 volts at the coil with the key off. The ignition switch is pretty new due to an attempted theft about a year and a half ago. I unplugged the switch and it looks good, nothing scorched or melted. It has a pink (resister?) wire coming off of the switch and a red/green stripe at the coil the rest is covered by what looks like tape.
460 has points so I assume I need the resistance wire, but what voltage should I have at the coil with switch on, I assume 0 with it off. I still have the 10 plus volts with the switch disconnected.
Where do I go next? This truck is a wiring nightmare it has a '66 Cadillac steering column as an example.
Why would the engine keep running but everything else shut off?
Thanks

Solenoid it was. After checking back in here I pulled the ignition wire off the solenoid, no more power to coil. Took my daughter to practice and got a new one on the way home. Starts and shuts off like a champ now. Napa was out guy said he has probably sold 25 or 30 in the last month. Federated had in stock but laughed out loud when I asked for one that wasn't Chinese. Oh well!!!
Thanks a lot guys.

I do wonder where the Ford solenoids are made though.
Thanks again.

Didn't realize it was still a ford item, I think I will stop at the dealership the next time I am close and pick one up. I seem to be replacing it about once every 2 years, problem until now has always been starter kept running after releasing the key.

The problem has gotten so bad with this China junk that guys routinely strip them off vehicles in wrecking yards and keep the old stuff behind the seat as spares.
NOS lasts for decades. New China junk is dead out of the box half the time. And the failure is dramatic. A flywheel can be wrecked from the starter holding in.
