Well I just herd back from vets office. They found two small puncture wounds on the joint above his paw where the swelling was. They think some sort of venomous bite. Good news is they were able to treat it, and he can come home tomorrow in morning. Now to find out what in the yard bit him...snake or hornets maybe. Least he will be ok
I remember seeing Clear Lake when I was down in that area buying my '66. I bought it in Lucerne.
Been busy lately. Went to Hot August Nights on Saturday, headed from Burney to Redding at 11:30 that night, and took the '66 up to Trinity Center for an all nighter. Had a bit of fun on Sunday and was back in Redding by 5 PM ready for the week.
We just got back from a looo-oong weekend in the eastern Sierra (Mono Lake, Bodie, etc.). Kind of smokey at times because of wildfires, but not too bad.
Got surprised in Bodie, as the day we were there was their annual "Bodie Day". The place is usually pretty quiet, but there were a couple thousand people that day. None-the-less an interesting place to visit once in a while.
The other surprise was the Perseid meteor shower. I hadn't thought about it, but around bed time Saturday night the sky lit up, and it was really nice because of the dark sky up there. We thought we might get another shot on Sunday night, but the smoke from several wild fires kind of obscured the primary viewing zone.
That would have been an awesome sight to see. Haven't seen a meteor shower before.
I heard Bodie was a dangerous place to live back in its heyday. maybe one dayI will actually make it out there and check it out.

If you go there, be sure to take a tour of the stamping mill. The stories are horrendous! 100+ db sound of around 20 800 lb hammers (pounding ore into powder) with no hearing protection. Handling & boiling gold-infused mercury.
Then they would take the slurry (mercury would only get about 80% of the gold), and mix it with cyanide to extract the final 20%.
So take your pick; hearing loss, mercury poisoning, or cyanide poisoning. Word is that a typical mill worker would last less than a year. If they hadn't gone deaf, they would have been poisoned one way or another. Where's OSHA when you need them?

You were up near my neck of the woods. I live North of there near (just south of) Lake Tahoe. I watched the Perseid Meteor Shower too, from my deck. Used a zero gravity camping recliner. It was quite impressive, till the wine got to me and I fell asleep in the chair, then woke up and went to bed. Bodie's a pretty cool place. Haven't been there in several years, however.
