Manager will not let me throw the box spring and mattress in the dumpster, so I ordered two new encasements and will install them tomorrow when they arrive. A spraying for bed bugs is scheduled for Tuesday. So instead of sleeping in the oven (bedroom) the next few days, I have plugged in the recliner and slept in that last night, but kept the bedroom door and window closed to try and make it hot enough that they die. I am told by the pest control people that they die 120 degree temp. So when they spray Tuesday, I will see if they can turn the heater on full blast for the 4 hours I have to be gone. Other than that things are going okay here.
jim, keep at the battle with those pests. you'll have 'em flushed out in no time. I struggle to live with flies in my house. trying to sit at the table and enjoy a cup of coffee, read the paper, or study homework and I got darned flies buzzing around me.
gripes.
local FD has a 92 crown Vic for sale. V8 w/ 142K. needs a little TLC but runs good otherwise. thinkin I'll make an offer and get a new DD while I pick away at the great white.
Well i can say living with bugs certainly sucks, one of the puppies brought ticks in with her...that was a fun ordeal.
Those crown Vic's run forever, transmissions are git and miss but overall a very solid car. I miss mine, still going strong after 300k plus, purchased it from the highway patrol at auction in 08, retired it about 1.5 years ago after getting punched in the nose. After it sat in my back yard for a year, got infested with a rats nest my friend took it, cleaned it up and put on some clean sheet metal, and he still drives it daily.
I think I have acquired all the parts for the taurus, got a garage full of stuff now. Figured if I am going to open the front cover to do the water pump, do everything else in there while I am at it. Plan on starting work on it next Tuesday, hope it starts cooling down by then.
Had a great weekend, now reality is smacking me upside my head.
Friday I went with the Shelby Club to Denbeste Motorsports. They're the worlds largest dealer of COBRA's for sale, I counted 48! They also own the Carroll Shelby Engine Co and had everything from a mild 289 to a twin supercharged all aluminum 427 putting out 800 HP.
They probably had 50 or so aluminum 427 castings laying around, some machined, some fresh from the foundry.
Lots of late 60's Shelbys for sale from 200k to 300k or so.
On Saturday we were at Sears Point for the Nor Cal Shelby Club Mini-Nationals. They rent the track for the weekend and people bring out their track/race cars.
I got a ride in a Terlingua driven by Gary Patterson, President of Shelby American!!!
Here's a link to the Terlingua. Basically a supercharged 750 HP track car.
Saturday Night we went to a banquet at THE COBRA EXPERIENCE in Martinez. OMG what a mecca of awesomeness. Many, many original 427 Cobras including a King Cobra and a GT40.
On Sunday I got rides in a track prepped Boss 302 Laguna Seca, and also a Boss 302S race car. So bad ***...
Aaaand now I'm home having the septic guy out to fix the "turd pump" and plumbing on the little cottage I rent out. Oh and my clean water pressure pump setup is on the fritz, I think it's the check valve. It just wants to cycle and cycle and try to get hot enough to burn my house down. Sigh.. it was a great weekend...
Just got my computers up and running after having everything disconnected for the spraying. Bought the wrong size encasements, so now I need to return them and order full size instead of twin. Slept on recliner last night anyway and no bites, so I am happy for now. Too early to tell if they were all killed though.
Jim, I hope that the anti bug work takes. At least it is cooling off a tad, we barely made a hundred here today, but we are in a "Significant Weather Advisory " for thunderstorms with associated winds and hail at this time.
Well, so far, no bugs, or bites, since Tuesday. Ordered correct sized encasements, and a king size for the recliner. I am enjoying the use of the recliner at the moment though. It is a lift recliner, and with the encasement on I did not want to use the lift part in fear of ripping the encasement. Will have to keep up a strict vacuum every day regiment also, to keep the eggs gone. Read that from a pest control site, so I would hope it is true.
Well this morning sucked. I woke up to a dog with a swollen paw..vet couldn't find anything obviously wrong with him so they are going to sedate him for X-rays and possibly exploratory surgery. Vet mention the cancer word because of his age..I really hope not. Have to go to work at 11, so Maxx (dog) is staying overnight with the vet. I really hope its something like a sprain.
Maxx is the lighter colored blonde one, he turns 10 in December.
