Viberation
I have just purchased a 2013 f150 supercab 5.0
truck has 53000 miles on it. I have known the original owner
it has a brand new set of Michelin tires as it had on it from the factory
same size and same model
I have taken the truck in and had the tires rebalanced twice
as I increase the road speed to 45 mph the viberation starts
and is felt in the seats and increases and gets really bad at 55 mph
then it decreases a little but still viberates up to highs speeds
if I look in the rear view mirror the left rear fender looks to be
moving up and down and the right rear fender looks not to have
any movement.
I would like you guys to give me some ideas on what to look for?
Thanks Sonny
If the tires have been balanced twice, did they find that they are out of balance each time they test them? If so, there may be something loose inside one or more of the wheels. To find out if there is, spin the tire on the balancer and balance it as it indicates. Then manually rotate it slowly for about a half turn and spin balance again to see if it stays in balance.
Otherwise, try riding in another vehicle next to the truck and watching it as it goes down the road to see if you can identify what is shaking.
I guess it could be a bad wheel, bad tire, sticking brake caliper or shoe, bad U-joint, etc. But, it's usually the shocks on these trucks.
and checked the alignment the truck did a little better. I got up under the
vehicle myself this weekend. I first checked to see if it had any slack in the driveline
at the rear end everything is tight, checked the center section and the carrier bearing
everything is tight. Checked the front driveline at the rear of the transmission loose.
I called the local Ford Dealership and have an appointment for them to look at it
tomorrow to check why it has so much slack in the output shaft of the transmission at the first universal joint. Wish me luck I hope they will cover it in the power train warranty.
there for 2 days and they called me the third day and said they can"t duplicate the
problem. I told them I will be there tomorrow between 9-10 after the traffic dies down
to road test it with whom they desire. Road tested the truck with the service manager
got on the interstate and increased the speed slowly to approximately 55 mph and I
asked him does he feel the vibration. He didn't respond I could see him start thinking. I left the road speed the same and asked him if he wanted me to go on a
smoother part of the interstate at this time it was about another mile or so. I asked
him again do you feel what I feel in the seats and in the floorboard and he said yes
I feel the vibration. Do you want me to continue on with the road test or do we need
to turn around and go back to the dealership. He said turn around and go back to the
dealership. I have called today and left him a message to call me but he has not
returned my call. Will keep you informed on what they come up with the source of
the vibration

Took it to a shop that had a road force balancer and road force balanced them, turning all 4 tires on the wheels to the correct spot and removing the 32 ounces of weight and balancing all 4 with less than 5 ounces.
