I'm doing a little bit of Sunday morning research on hardware to install in my bed for when I want to secure loads with rope & ratchet straps. This is more for small stuff when not using the stake pockets. I just had the paint done and will have a few more pieces to take the painter to shoot, so I was hoping to get some hardware and get it painted at the same time. Unfortunately, I can't go outside and look at the truck to measure, it's 45 minute drive away so I wanted some input.
First, what are other ideas people had for this, I might be going in the wrong direction?
My first idea was to put some of these under the fender bolts & bed strip bolts (i didn't do the hidden hardware so I have bolts): https://www.mcmaster.com/#33815t51/=18q2rmf
Next idea was to put this under the bed to frame bolts, but I'm pretty sure this is too wide (again can't go outside and measure): https://www.mcmaster.com/#3076t12/=18q2s9i
I have used these before and they look very nice, and work great too.
Remember to consider shifting and top heavy loads, and you will almost always encounter hauling something you hadn't anticipated. I find people asking (on another forum) "I'm just going to haul this tractor across town". Well, you lash that sucker down like you're going on a million mile trip because you can't predict what other drivers are going to do, like sudden stops or cutting you off. Your life, or others, may depend on it. 4-Pack Tiedown Recessed Pan D-ring 6,000Lb Trailer Tie Downs & Mounting Hardware | eBay
