Towing Travel Trailer advise

Thanks in advance for suggestions, I have a 2000 4wd V10 limited I just purchased about a week ago with 196k miles. I have changed all the universals and front wheel bearings and brakes. I also have a 32' travel trailer 8100 # loaded capacity. EX runs like new and transmission shift flawless and fluid look red and doesn't smell burnt at all. It was used to tow because PO installed a brake controller. My question is would any of you have any reservations about a 10 hour tow from the gulf coast to North Georgia? I tow around 60-65 mph now with 1/2 ton truck. Planned to use EX locally to begin with, but this trip came up kinda short notice, would like to give it a go just a little nervous. Thanks again

I'd consider changing fluids: oil, diffs, tcase, anti-freeze, and tranny (brakes ok? Maybe a flush) if you don't know when they were last done. We have how-to threads for each job in our tech folder.

Good luck and welcome to FTE!

Did you service everything? New belt, hoses, antifreeze, diffs, transfer case, oil etc?

I like to drive them around locally first to make sure, but if everything is ok, why not?

As added insurance you might want to get the Camping world road service for the rig and RV, that would be for piece of mind and JIC!

Welcome !

All other service being done today including rebalancing tires. I have road side assistance on camper and vehicle through Geico and rving.net. Forgot about belts will add to wife's list.

I am also buying the Sanner that links to your phone to monitor all temps.

Thanks for the input

Be sure to get the WD hitch setup to match the EX/TT combo correctly.
What trailer brake controller will you be using?
Are the EX tires Load Range E and fairly recent builds? Are they stock size, 265/75R16s?
Do you know what gear ratio the EX has?
Do you have tow mirrors or the small paddles?

With all fluids changed, fresh brakes, belt and hoses with all systems functioning, I wouldn't hesitate to hit the road with it.

I will set up wdh for the EX, tires are factory size and are load range E, I pulled the VIN and build information from link I got from this site and it has 3.73 gears. It has paddles mirrors at the moment but those will be changed. My friend has a ex he is doing the 2010 front upgrade to so he donating his tow mirrors and his 05 grill and headlights to my EX (Goliath) thanks again everyone. Helping think of things I may have overlooked.

Looks like we will be taking the excursion. This is my third excursion the first two were bought new. This one runs and drives every bit as well as the new ones. This one has some rocker panel rust, but everything else is unbelievably clean and works. I feel like I got a good deal and have spent another $850.00 on all the maintenance stuff. I feel like I have a truck I can get at least another 150k miles out of.

I had forgotten what tanks these thing are, couldn't be happier with a new truck.

Rear sway bar would be at the top of my list after all the maintenance stuff is taken care of. That single piece made the biggest difference in the way my ex handled with a trailer behind it.

I would also add to check and make sure the pigtail socket is in good working order. If corroded, replace it.

If the pigtail is not corroded I'd get some QD Electronic cleaner spray and spray the hitch plug male and female sides and let them dry off. I use it for all my QD stuff.
