Hello everyone I am in need of pictures for a 1984 f150 w/o A/C of the wiring going from the alternator to the starter solenoid on the passenger fender to the voltage regulator on the fender to the cab. The previous owner butcher the wiring in this area and installed a 30 amp fuse from the alternator to the positive side of the solenoid and it is literally melting fuses (go figure a 60 amp output). I have no clue what he was trying to accomplish but he has multiple other wires cut and spliced. Just for information I have a DUI on the way to install in the truck along with a non feedback carb. Does anyone know what I can remove from the truck and make everything still work. Thanks in advance guys.
sounds kind of like the previous owner may have made an attempt at upgrading the alternator to a higher output unit. may be worth looking into the mod (listed in the tips and tricks here) and completing it proper with all of the appropriate components. junkyard alternators are cheap and can be tested for free at parts stores.
Try the last page or two for how both the stock & 3G get wired

sorry on phone don't know how to make link click able
you'll need the alternator, and the applicable wiring connectors for it from a donor car.

130 amp alternator from 90s ford Taurus with 3.8L v6. look at the front of the case and verify the two holes between the casting ribs, not four holes. also ensure that the mount holes for the bolts are about 8.25 inches apart. washer behind the pulley as well, once you swap them.
f250 restorer did a great thread contribution under the tips and tricks. check it out.
