I have a 17 250 KR FX4. Towing a 36' TT with 1000lb tongue weight. I have a reese wdh. The ride is fine but it's a constant battle to keep in the lane even with sway control hooked up. I can't go much over 60 without going into other lanes. It's a constant back and forth. Does it at 60 also but not as extreme and I can at least stay in my lane. Has anyone else had any issues like this? I had a pro re-do the hitch set up so everything there is good. The ride improved after the readjust but the truck sway is the same. I'm at a loss
I had terrible sway with my F-150 towing a similar 36 ft 1000 lb tongue weight trailer. I bought an expensive ProPride Hitch and it eliminated 95-98% of the sway in crosswinds or being passed by tractor trailers. https://www.propridehitch.com/propri...control-hitch/
They work, but they are expensive. The good news is that they offer 60 day return policy. Returns can be expensive to ship the 200 lbs back to the manufacture.
Now with a 5th wheel I some times forget the trailer is behind me.
I'm towing a 7000 lb 30 ft trailer about 700 lb tongue wt with a f350 with zero issues. Your f250 shouldn't be any different. I'm using a Reese wdh. Has to be your trailer, something not right with it.
Even with a 1000 lbs tongue if you don't have the weight in the trailer evenly distributed you're going to have sway. That fact that the F-250 may be higher at the hitch than your GM truck even with the same load it will handle differently, just a couple of inches will be night and day with an unbalanced load. It may take some work but you need to have good weight distribution to tow safely.
I have a 24' enclosed trailer I use to haul a jeep wrangler, couple 4 wheelers and camping gear, It goes around 10k lbs. I don't use a wdh (yet) but I have no problems with it in tow. I stick to around 65 because I don't wanna push the ST tires, I thought I felt a little sway once but it wasn't bad.
I currently tow a 38' TT with a 1400lb hitch weight. I found that if I loaded the trailer more towards the front, putting more weight on the truck it help tons. Also if you are coming from a 150 it is possible you need to readjust your WD hitch. It could be that you are not putting enough weight on the hitch.

Yeah I got a different shank with more drop for the ford. The trailer only has one large storage area in the front that has access from both sides. There might be 100lbs in there. Other than that the trailer is empty. Gross is 9500 and empty is around 8000. There isn't really any weight to distribute. Trailer is level and the truck has enough rake that you can see it from a distance. I did an extended test drive with another truck and it did the same thing. I attributed it to the standard shank not being long enough. The ride was rough as well. Now the ride it great but the sway is still there. Hooked it up to a 17 denali and it did fine. It really does not feel like the trailer is pushing me around. It feels like it's in the steering.

I came from a 08 2500 duramax. I did have to get a diff shank and re adjust things. The trailer is as it would come from the dealer plus maybe 100lbs in the front and only storage compartment. Shop I bought the hitch from weighed it today at 1000lbs on the tongue

X2 redistribute the load, too much weight on the tail or not enough on the tongue.
