2011 Ranger Airbag Recall
Probably going on 2 years now that I got a airbag recall on the passenger side airbag. Has anyone that got this recall notice had their airbag replaced. Looks like usual Ford run around. I think this is my last Ford product. I was going to get a toyota tacoma, but ford had a $5,000 rebate on these last rangers. Dave

Whats the beef, it's likely part of the no cost to you Takata air bag recall that auto mfgrs that used their product have had to deal with, including Toyota.
Takata had 40% of the air bag business. Here is what the TSB on the subject for your 2011 Ranger & other Ford models has to say on the subject. http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/TSb/...dPdf?id=194868
Your Ranger has a passenger side deactivation switch, so turn that puppy off until it's replaced, if you live in a hot humid climate & your concerned about it's safety.
Takata thinks heat & humidity over time May be affecting the air bag chemicals, causing the bag to deploy with Too much force & the extra force May fracture some parts & send them flying to cause injury.
In any case take this puppy in for a no cost replacement as soon as the Dealer has received his supply & can scheduled the replacement.
Lots of vehicle mfgrs are having to deal with troubled customers, so be patient, it'll get done.

Ok, look in your owner manual & confirm that Ford has eliminated the passenger manual/key operated air bag deactivation switch & moved it to the passenger seat area, where if an adult weight passenger is sitting, it will automatically sense the weight & activate the air bag.
If no one is seated, no weight is detected, so the air bag in automatically Deactivated/Turned Off.
EDIT: Check your Owner Manual for how your model passenger air bag is configured.

The air bag inflaters are being replaced when the dealers get them in stock. I just got mine replaced several weeks ago.
I got the initial recall notice, and Ford was supposed to notify me when the dealer had stock, but they never did. I found out accidentally when I visited the dealer that they had the parts needed, so I jumped at the chance to get them replaced immediately (both inflaters on my truck).

You can look up your vin to see which of your frontal airbags is part of the recall.
