I used left over cedar fence planks for this truck box. I just wanted something simple. I screwed it to bed floor

Great timing on this thread. I'm getting ready to do a similar project. I have a couple metal Jerry gas cans and a Beer keg I pulled from the trash that are going into the bed soon. I'm going to make a simple rack for the cans to sit on either side of the keg after cutting a good sized access door into it.

I would like to find a good use for those metal jerry cans. I have a bunch of them in the tractor shed I have been tripping over

John you may be able to go to the AACA (antique automobile club of America) for sale site and find a chest similar to that one. A lot of the 20's or early 30's cars had them.

I bought a reproduction vintage cooler for my dad. He stores tools in it for his sedan delivery. It is heavy enough that it doesn't move (but is on carpet). There are a bunch of different styles of reproduction coolers and brands - ford, coke, pepsi, beer brands, etc.

Will college season coming back, probably can get a trunk on sale soon! Tons of colors and patterns.

There are some vintage looking stuff out there that is pretty inexpensive compared to an actual vintage toolbox/ dome trunk -

I'd like to do a fancy box, but I already have a tonneau cover over the bed. I was thinking something a bit more removable and simplistic just to prevent stuff from rolling around in the back.

Has anyone used any of these adjustable stabilizer bars?

Or something that just attaches to the tonneau frame (and not the box)

I am currently using an old army trunk. It was my uncles during his military time in the late 50's. He managed to get stationed in England I believe.
It is smaller than I want and I don't have it fastened down, but it does the job.

You guys are such a bad influence. I had never even thought about adding a bed box. But that was B4 I had seen so many beautiful examples, really, really, beautiful examples. Ill have to fight this urge for a good long while, as I don't even have a savings account anymore, just bills. Oh well, the truck was worth it to me at twice the price. Thanks for the neat thread, it Rocks.

Thanks! Now the neighbors kids have a bench to sit on, when I taxi them through the village (but of course very slow and only in a small side street)

I removed two carriage bolts and am using these aligning weld nuts underneath to easily pull the box out.
