The Con!!

A small group of us from Vegas went and ran the Con a couple weeks ago, didn't get many pics but it was an awesome weekend.
Happy to report the trail is not as easy as everyone said it was, although Little Sluice is basically filled in so that sucks.

We ran the trail in one day, about 14 hours on the trail including lunch and breaks. Next time we want to spend a night on the trail then head to Fordyce and spend a couple of days there.

That my friend is a bad A** Bronco. I was on the con two weekends ago and saw a handful of build early broncos with good bodies. Sure motivates me to build one; unfortunately they are so darn expensive to get into one.

How hard did you have to push to finish in one day? 14 hours is long, if that was 14 hours of hard driving it must have seemed even longer. I don't know if it would be easier to talk my wife into a long day, or to convince her to camp out on the trail.

I'd have to say it's "hard" in some ways, but I'm willing to bet that their 14 hour trip went by in a flash. Can't speak for them of course, but if not a flash, at least it was 14 hours well spent and hopefully a happy day it was.
I've done it many times since my first in '75, have driven it, walked it (as a spotter or taking pictures) and have spent long days on the trail that did not seem that long
Your body will sometimes remind you it was a long day, but as long as you take breaks, drink the good stuff (water mostly) and relax some of the time and smell the pine trees, it's a wonderful experience.
Even if someone in the group ahead of you gets stuck high-centered 100 yards in and you get to stop and help. Really, it might take you longer that way, but it too is part of the fun and adventure.

The first time we did it in one day was actually one of the easier days too. Fewer rigs on the trail that weekend for some reason, and we just got through it quickly. No fuss, no muss. Hit Tahoe City at about 4 in the afternoon and figured we might as well drive home!

Did that sound like an advertisement?
Wasn't meant to, but I do remember waking up with a smile and taking a picture of the front of my Bronco peeking in my tent, at Spider Lake back when you could camp there.
Fun stuff.

Love it man! Love seeing these things out on the trail where they belong!

I had a 64 Falcon with a teardrop A F/X style hood... Never considered putting one on my 77 Bronco. It really looks good! I have an original Cobra Jet Mustang scoop for my 78 Bronco.
