Dash cam/GPS install!
The one I got was:
Which it seems they JUST update the software/rom on it which may be a great thing for this mirror.
I had some major initial problems with it (being that the installed software takes up too much space, and you only have about 200mb for installing apps.)
After rooting the device and deleting apps, then downloading them, then realizing I messed up and repeating this for about 12 hours straight, I finally got it the programs working where I was satisfied. That is also after the mirror bracket on my window fell off 3 times and I punched the windshield in the process...
Despite the hiccups, I got it installed and hooked everything up! So far, it seems pretty awesome. It has a rear and front camera that records while driving (only while driving, there is no battery), and you can use the stock navigation system, or download google maps and use the offline mode if you download maps to it.
It also has bluetooth for phones, but the audio out on the mirror isn't very good so it may not be the best setup for that.
Anyways, here are some install pictures:
Here's me taking apart the third brake light and making room for the rear camera:
Here's the camera installed:
Here's what the mirror looks like:
I have a short video I was going to upload of it but it keeps timing out on flickr so I may try to upload that later.
Also, I swapped my tail lights out with these I had sitting around. I clear coated my stock ones, but it was starting to peel pretty bad so it looked kinda bad. What do you guys think of these darker ones?
I like the stock look, but I want them to look clean and new, so if those look better, I'll have to try and find some new OEM ones.
Thanks! For the tail lights, my buddy gave them to me since he took them off the truck he bought so not sure where they came from. I had them for a while and decided to put them on since I had to take them off to access the wires.
