I a have a rear view mirror which droops. Any ideas
on how to fix it? There are some pits on the mirror surface
(nothing bad but can be seen if one is looking around)
mine is not a show truck so I'd prefer to fix over replace.
Thanks,
Go to the junk yard and get a different one. It should be held on with just a screw. Unless the metal that it attaches to is actually coming off the windshield, in which case you could just as well remove it and reglue it, and since it is only glued on (as are all modern ones), there is no limit to how fancy of one you could glue back on. You could even get one with the map lights in the bottom of it and wire them in. Just make sure you get the correct adhesive (available at any auto supply), and let it cure well before you pop the new mirror on.
when i got my truck in califonia it had what looks like a semitruck rearview mirror glued in. on the ride home (i live in idaho) i was going through the glove box and found the stock mirror and put it back in as the replacment was just glued in above the original mount. as i drove it it would constantly droop down so when my wifes taurus blew its tranny i was more than happy to pop that mirror off and glued it in. it works great!
