What mirror have people selected to use on the interior? I didn't have an original to look at, but had thought I wanted to go to a windshield mounted mirror..
as you can't really see out the stock right side mirror (close to the truck), this inside mirror becomes more important..
there are some battery powered dimmable mirrors.. ugly rectangular shape..
don't want to run wires tho..
I will be using the mirror from my old Eldo. I am stripping out a lot of interior stuff for my truck. I used to run the stock rear view that bolts to the upper winshield jamb. This Eldo mirror is larger and sticks to the windshield. It has a flip button to dim it. No electrics.
I've seen some windshield mounted mirrors that are self dimming and also have map lights built into the corners, I am trying to remember where I saw one
I went with the 56 mirror from MF, drilled one more hole, but the fit is nice and the adjustment is way better than the stock 55...and it looks period correct. The chrome finish is pretty nice too.
I like the stock. Why can't you see out the pass mirror? Maybe it would help to put on a 3" convex mirror on that side??? As far as a self-dimming inside mirror, if you've got that rear window tinted dark like it should be, then you don't need no high falutin self dimmer. Good luck, Jag

well documented that the stock right side mirror arm is such that the head cannot be rotated enough to allow you to see down the side of the truck.
I can see about 8 ft out from the rear of the bed, but no closer.. so there is this 8 ft blind spot..
I see your point Sam, but that is the nature of the beast when it comes to interior mirrors. They only look back leaving the blindspot duty to the passenger side mirror. The only mirror I can see that would do away with the blind spot would be the very long units with multiple angles built into them. But those are about three feet long. good luck, Jag
sam, i think your gonna have to suck it up and take the bad with the good. for the look your going for i just cant see a 'functional' mirror on your truck. anything that looks good, you wont be able to see out of. and anything you can see out of, dont look good. your gonna be stuck like me and have massive blind spots
oh and i just checked out your paint update!!! and all i can say is OMG too, that looks AB-SO-LUT-ELY amazing!!!!

thanks, and I just wish that the pictures were worth anything.. they do NOT do it justice at all..
took it to the first show now 3 weekends ago, and won 3rd place, with no interior (sheet over the stock seat), no carpet, no headliner, door panels.
so I THINK the color has something to do with it
lost to a spectacular yellow 51..
here is the black 56 owned by fergusonicford, the yellow one and mine in a row (all three hood treatments)..
Hello Sam, I built my mirrors using the original mounting location for my panel by using and modifying pontiac grand am electric mirrors that might be of interest to you. I used these mirrors only because they were ready accessable to me but you could do the same process to the ones of your choice. They are in my gallery but aren't completely finished yet.
