It doesn't surprise me they denied the claim. I have a wheel that the finish was messed up from day 1, but I didn't notice it the day I picked it up because it was raining. I noticed it that night and texted the salesman. He said no problem we'll get it taken care of when you come in for your first service. Took it in for the service and Ford denies the warranty claim because I used improper and/or abrasive wheel cleaner on it. I've never touched the wheels. It took a phone call to the salesman, but the dealership is taking care of it even though Ford denied it. Good luck!
I had the same issue wheel finish was messed up. Ford denied it saying something caustic got on it. Under 1k miles on a 75k truck and you are gonna deny a warranty claim I don't think so. Seems like ford will deny all cosmetic claims and if no one pushes back they win. Long story short don't take no for an answer. Keep calling ford and hit them with the line I'm tired of talking to people paid to say no get me to your boss. Can't talk to the digital imaging Department so you need to escalate through ford. Took me 2 weeks and 8 calls but got a new wheel. Dealer scratched it putting it on, long story there also.
So after a fiasco on Friday talking the shop foreman and manager they are going to resubmit the claim. Again I think Ford will deny it but I am not going to take my thumb off the pressure, I will not give up on this. I work in a office environment so no chemical from me has been near that area. Also other parts of the trim panel are starting to bubble as well. I dont have a clue what is causing this as it never sits out in the sun.
If it gets denied, I will for sure send a bad survey and go from there.

it will get denied again and you only get to appeal it once. I've been through this with my wheel. Keep calling ford and escalating it to their boss. Get the manager to put in the claim it's defective.
