Wow, sir, you like to go out and play hard. After further inspecting my truck, I also found that it needs a new engine mount; the list is growing.

They sell heavy duty parts for full size Dana 44 truck axles also. I am sure this FTE member (Cheeto ?) has some axle shaft and u joint upgrades.

Good afternoon,

Here is what I have found on my stick shift after I remove it. I think I will need to replace the cap that holds down, because as you can see it from the pictures one side is almost gone.

Now the question is what is the part number?

Go to the red sticky threads at the top of this form list, look at the "Ford Truck Information and then some" thread. I've got a diagram in there that's a New Process 435 transmission shift lever retaining cap.

Thank you very much for the information. I haven't replaced the bushing, but I want to think that this is the reason for the rattling.

There is no plastic bushing in there, that collar pushes down and turns and locks. On the two rivets like pins that go in from the outside in. With the groove so torn on that one side, that collars definitely not going to lock properly.

Again getting in that Ford truck information and then some thread and find the picture using the 1x4 block of wood to push down, turn and lock that collar.

Hello everyone,

I am back with an update on my truck shift rattling; well, yesterday I received the new part, "New Process 435 transmission shift lever retaining cap" but unfortunately, the issue continues.

I was talking to a local mechanic and he thinks that maybe is the transmission synchronize.

I have to continue looking into it. Or what do you guys think may cause the issue?

When "stuff" gets worn or worn out, parts that are suppose to go together with some tightness tend to get loose over time and miles and you get a rattle. When the syncros get worn it can make for a hard time to row thru the gears. Something is worn in there, for sure. Does it bother you enough to warrant a trans rebuild. Maybe the rattle is not that bad now. Turn up the radio.

Did you get a new spring in the kit? Lower left part in pics is a spring.

Board trick.

Hi 77&79F250

Thank you for your advice. No, I just found NOS part on eBay and bought it, but now that you show a picture with all the components, I will buy one from https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledg.../manual/np435/ they offer on their website.

To answer your question regarding the noise, the noise is not that terrible, but when I was reading the original post, I understood that it was something easy to fix with a bushing. I love my truck, and I would like to keep it in “good” condition, I haven’t done the engine support, and always is there something to work on it.

You have been so helpful.

Well hopefully that "kit" will have the fix in it for you. The original post was about a transfer case vibration, and I believe a bushing was replace to fix the OP's problem.
