Loose Transfer Case Shifter
Hello everybody, I have been reading the site for a few months now and find it very informative. I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. I have a 1980 F250 with a 460, C6, and a NP208 transfer case. When I am driving the truck in two wheel drive there is a slight metal on metal banging sound and it seems to be coming from the transfer case. I have checked the fluid and it is fine. I noticed the shifter is loose and moves side to side so I pulled the boot off and tried tightening the bolt that holds the shifter in place but it was tight. So after all this rambling is the shifter being loose normal and if it is any ideas what may be causing the sound. Thanks in advance.
