I bought a stock 07 2wd dually and I want to upgrade it as the budget allows. My question is, what advice do y'all have for me? I've been doing a lot of research and I got the gauges (torque pro) a sct (with as far as I can tell has canned tunes) that came with the truck & an h&s that I've had in the closet. I was thinking of starting with the egr delete, 4 or 5" straight exhaust and the blue spring. I'll be using the truck to pull my 18k to 20k pound 5th wheel. There is a lot of egr options some expensive and some suspiciously cheap. What's a good one to go with? Thanks in advance.
I think the blue spring and HPO upgrades are top of list.
I can't speak on EGR delete but, since you have an SCT already (assuming it can clear CEL), welding up the cooler would be your cheapest option. That will probably be how I go.
I do have a three-gauge pod with EGT, fuel, and coolant pressures. While not an "upgrade", I can try to keep an eye on key parameters so I can nip problems in the bud.
I would definitely not go with welding up the EGR. Just pay for the delete and do it the right way the first time. Great for you having the tools to read all the numbers, that is what most people are missing. Blue Spring is definitely a must, and if you aren't running rotorcraft filters, then you need to switch to that. Post a pic!
