I just ordered my truck. It still has not gone to Ford, but I did put some money down.
The Dealer gave me DORA Invoice pricing, which was right at X-Plan, $20 higher. I did not actually have an invoice yet, but looked at at the paperwork from different platinum that was there. $20 difference.
Originally the fleet sales guy said he would be ~$1,000 under X-plan, now it's the same as invoice. The MSRP is $78,590 and the invoice price is $74,120. A 6% discount.
I will also get $1,500 from Ford incentives and a $750 financing cash back. I ordered a brochure, and joined AQHA, so maybe a bit more. Assuming the $1,500 and $750 are a given, it will be $71,869 or 9% off MSRP. More if I get an additional certificate and the AQHA money.
Does the DORA invoice include things that X-Plan does not? Is X-Plan any better than the DORA invoice? I just do not see many differences...
There is an advertisement fee that the Dora shows and fuel surcharge that is charged on every vehicle. That could be where your $1,000 is coming from.
On my screen print, I see a fuel charge of $116.64. I do not see any advertising charge. It is not the actual DORA invoice, but the screen shot off the dealer screen. It looks like a green screen, CNGP530. I also see a destination charge of $1,295.
Should I be able to see the advertising fee on that screen?
So.. MN is a state that doesn't require advertised price to include destination (just google MN ford dealer and you'll see disclaimers that show it as not included). So it's possible they advertised at $1k under the X plan price that one sees, however, in reality that ends up being $295 more ($1295 destination minus the $1k)... so if they are now offering you the invoice then they are actually a few hundred bucks less than where you started. However, if I was selling it to you and told you $1k under invoice then I'd be a real $1k under real X plan because in PA we include the destination price in our pricing. IMO you're getting a pretty good deal, but it's not "amazing" and probably about $500-$750 higher than what is an advertised internet price. Does that matter if they treated you well? I would hope not. Invoice (including the destination cost) is what I offer my commercial folks and I'd be happy with it as a customer, but that's up to you how much you think they deserve. Assuming no crazy doc fees, it would be a $1k-2k profit depending on how much the MSRP cost is.

I read somewhere that MN doc fees are limited to $75, which will be added to the final invoice. It was not an advertised price, just a fleet price.
right, but that's a form of advertising. I don't know all the laws of such states because I don't live/work in one. But from my perspective they could on one hand say they are selling for $1k under X plan figure, however, if it was actual X plan then it would include the destination because X plan is the same everywhere (including the Doc fee except in states states with a lower fee). For what it's worth, I sell to my own extended family at invoice (and they know what we are making). It's a justifiable price. At the same time, I also advertise on TrueCar at $400 under invoice (including the destination). But, I sell any additional products (warranty, protections, etc) at employee price to family and customers pay whatever they sort out in the finance office. IMO it's not worth going down to the penny on everything. For parts, I know Tasca Ford sells cheaper than I can buy for, but I buy at my dealership for most thing (rock auto for others) out of loyalty to my boss.. but then again, I was a customer who was so loyal I started working for the company so I probably have some issues (-=
I'm here in central texas and I got $500 under x-plan minus all incentives and rebates. That was $1500 minus the $750 brochure coupon I had. I was happy and they were happy.
I will also get an additional $1,849.17 off the price, as I have some dealership cash. The cash was 'earned' by getting my current 2003 F350 7.3 truck worked on over the years.
I was able to get a better price on my Truck. I told the sales guy to hold off on the order for a week. Even though I had signed a contract and put down $8K last week, it wasn't really binding. Without approved financing it was not 100% binding.
I got a price of $73,319 on a F350 Platinum Ultimate with a MSRP of $78,590. $5,271 off MSRP or 6.7% discount.
I still get to take off $1,849 in dealership rewards, $750 Ford Credit incentive, $1,500 ford incentive, a private offer of $750 and a $500 AQHA incentive.
Hopefully the truck comes in and I can still use all the rewards. The AQHA reward I may not be able to get until 9/08 and the private offer expires on 9/11. Maybe I can get a new private offer that expires later...? Or get the AQHA coupon earlier? Or will the truck even come in by mid-September?
Anyway, I am a bit happier now with a better price. I had a competing offer that I could have taken that would have got a truck right away, at a slightly better price ($73,042), but no dealership rewards money.
If all the rewards are able to be used, it will be a price 86.49% of MSRP. Worse case, I lose the Ford Private offer, and I am still at 87.44% of MSRP.
