what is this wire?
I´m overe here in Germany and new to the forum but been a constant reader since two years.
Bought a 1984 F250 Supercab 4x4 6.9 IDI Banks turbocharged.
I´m in the restoration process right now and found an unconnected yellow cable coming from the harness on the driver´s side underneath the brake booster. When I had the dash all out I was able to trace it to somewhere to the ignition switch, but not sure since I did not splice the harness.
The truck hauled a camper and trailer once. I´m thinking that maybe it was for one of these purposes since there´s a smaller red cable DIYed to the yellow one, looking like an extension cable going nowhere (about 1 foot long).
Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.
Oh, and instrument cluster/dash illumination doesn´t work though digital clock does. New headlight switch installed. And thoughts? Connector C208 is good and contacts clean.

On your dash lights, check the fuse. The fuse will only have power if the headlights are on.
Allright, sounds plausible. I´ll check.
Cluster illum.:
Checked the shop manual. That says if park lights work then it´s not the fuse. Park lights are ok. I´ll check the fuse again anyway.

The park lamp circuit fuse does feed this circuit, but this circuit has it's own fuse downstream. So if the park lamp circuit fuse was blown, this circuit would not work. But this illumination fuse can blow and the park lights still work.
