Hey guys, I've been having a major issue with my tail lights. No matter what I do to this truck, the circuit keeps blowing the fuse. So far what I've done is this
1. Swapped out headlight Switch - didn't work.
2. Removed trailer hitch connector - this let the fuse last a while longer, but still blows.
3. Replaced the brown tail light wire from the harness in the engine bay to the harness by the gas tank in the rear - did absolutely nothing
4. Tested the fuse box by unmounting it, putting a fuse in, and shaking and smacking it to see it if blew the fuse -didn't work.
If anyone has any clues as to what it could be, it would be greatly appreciated. Oh and also, before the fuses started to blow, I noticed one day that my instrument cluster lights went dim. I tapped the glass and shook it a bit and they brightened back up. Could it be that there's a short in the cluster I'm not seeing?? If so, how would I test for that?
you have a wire that is shorting out to ground allowing uncontrolled battery positive power to reach ground, thus blowing the fuse. Disconnect cable bundles at connections and trace using careful tracing process.
