I found that Ford has Ssm-5098 which states:
"for Raptor's built on or before 05/22/2017, a new roll pin for the control shaft to the trans range sensor, the original may be undersized and become dislodged."
Could that be related?

Crud - my truck originally had a build date of 5/22 but had been built the previous week...
